Health Benefits of Microgreens

Microgreens are extremely healthy. Plants are most nutritious when they just sprout. Seeds contain all the nutrient to support a plant for the first few weeks of life. When it sprouts, all these vitamins and minerals are released. Microgreens are very rich in enzymes and these enzymes predigest complex nutrients. This makes them easy for our bodies to digest. They are excellent sources of protein. Microgreens are nutritionally dense. For example, it would take 19 cups of fully grown radish to get the same amount of vitamin A that is contained in 1 cup of radish microgreens. In other words, Radish sprouts are 56X more nutritious than fully grown radishes. Sprouts also absorb minerals and trace elements very well.

Uses

Microgreens can be eaten in a variety of ways. You could eat them alone and truly appreciate the unique and intense flavors. You could toss them into your favorite salad. You could put them inside a wrap or use them to garnish your dishes. You could also throw them in your smoothie. Microgreens are great for people who don’t like eating vegetables since you can get all the vitamins, nutrients, and health benefits of a whole salad in just a mouthful of microgreens. They are even more enjoyable for people who love to eat their greens, as they can truly appreciate the flavors, textures, and aromas.

How They’re Grown

Only the highest quality, organic, non-gmo seeds are sprouted. The seeds are spread onto a coconut coir substrate in a growing tray. The coco coir is fortified with azomite which is a type of clay mined in Southwestern US. It contains many trace minerals which are easily absorbed by the microgreens. Once the trays are seeded. they are placed on racks that have grow lights above them. The typical grow time for these sprouts are between 7 - 10 days. The microgreens are harvested on the same day, a couple of hours before they are sold, so they are extremely fresh. They are packaged in sustainable, biodegradable cardboard packages and can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
